Food is one part of a much wider picture. This guide explains common nutrition themes without turning them into promises.

What the evidence can reasonably support

Research often examines dietary patterns rather than a single ingredient. A pattern rich in plants, fibre and varied sources of protein may sit comfortably within general healthy eating guidance, but it does not diagnose or treat prostate conditions. Age, family history, symptoms, medicines and screening conversations remain important.

Build a wider plate

Try to make vegetables, fruit, pulses, whole grains and unsalted nuts familiar parts of the week. Variety matters because foods bring different nutrients and because a flexible pattern is easier to maintain.

Think in patterns

A single food rarely carries the meaning assigned to it online. Look for the overall pattern, portion, frequency and the quality of the research behind a claim.

Questions to take to an appointment

QuestionWhy it may help
Which symptoms need prompt attention? It separates general education from an individual assessment.
Do my medicines affect food or supplements? Some products can interact with prescribed treatment.
What eating pattern fits my wider health?Blood pressure, bowel health and weight may shape advice.
“A useful nutrition article should leave the reader better prepared for a conversation, not falsely certain about an outcome.”
“Patterns are usually more meaningful than isolated ingredients.”
“Symptoms deserve clinical attention rather than a search for a food shortcut.”

Cookie categories and lifespans

Cookies are small files or similar technologies placed in a browser when a site requests them. Kaelin uses only the categories needed to operate the pages and, where enabled, to understand broad service usage. A session cookie may expire when the browser closes. A consent cookie named kaelin_cookie_consent may remain for 180 days so that the site remembers a reader’s choice. Optional analytics identifiers, if enabled, are configured with a maximum lifespan of 13 months and are not intended to identify a person directly.

  • Strictly necessary cookies support navigation, security and form handling.
  • Preference cookies remember a choice such as the cookie banner response.
  • Analytics cookies are optional and used only for aggregated page-performance information.

Readers can delete cookies through browser settings and can revisit the consent control where it is available. Blocking necessary cookies may affect menus, forms or security features. A browser may also send a “do not track” signal, although technical responses depend on the service configuration.

Third parties and review history

Hosting, security, analytics or embedded services may set their own technical identifiers when a feature is active. Their handling is governed by their own privacy information, and Kaelin assesses whether each service is necessary, proportionate and compatible with UK requirements before using it. We do not place advertising cookies on a page merely because a reader has visited an editorial article.

This notice was reviewed on 5 October 2026. The prior review on 18 June 2026 checked the consent lifespan and the distinction between necessary and optional technologies. Cookie questions can be sent to 147 Birchwood Lane, Manchester, M14 5GN or 020 8496 7328; we aim to acknowledge messages within five working days.

Further detail on cookie operation

Cookies and similar technologies may remember a browser choice, support a secure session or provide broad information about page performance. A necessary session identifier normally expires when the browser closes. The preference cookie kaelin_cookie_consent may last 180 days so the banner choice is not repeatedly requested. If optional analytics is enabled, an identifier may have a maximum lifespan of 13 months and is configured for aggregated reporting rather than direct identification.

Necessary technologies support navigation, form handling and security. Preference technologies remember settings. Optional analytics technologies help identify slow pages or broken journeys, but refusing them does not prevent ordinary reading. A browser can delete existing files, block future files or show when a site requests storage; blocking necessary technologies may affect forms, menus or security features.

Hosting, security, consent-management and analytics providers may process technical identifiers under their own terms where a feature requires it. Kaelin checks the purpose, retention and transfer arrangements of such services before activation. Optional advertising identifiers are not assumed to be necessary for editorial access and are not placed solely because a reader opens an article.
